Double Decker Caramel Pecan Brownies


                          Double Decker Caramel Pecan Brownies
For Brownies
1 package Devil’s Food Cake Mix
½ Can evaporate milk
¾ Cup melted butter
1 Cup Chocolate Chips
½ Cup Chopped Pecans
For Caramel
1 pound (16 oz) sugar
1 Quart heavy cream, (or 2 Cups water+4 oz butter+2 tsp vanilla). If easier you can use ready caramel sauce, but the homemade sauce is absolutely worth it).
2 tsp Vanilla
Making Caramel
1.       In a heavy sauce pan add the sugar, and melt continue to stir with wooden spoon until brown and all lumps melt.
2.       Add ½ the cream slowly (or water). Be careful, because it will splatter. Continue to stir until combined add the rest of the cream.
3.       You can continue to cook on low heat till the desired consistency is achieved.
4.       Remove from heat add the vanilla and stir. Let cool.
Directions for Cake
1.       Preheat oven 350.  Line 8*8 pan with parchment, and spray with cooking spray.
2.       Combine the cake mix with ½ can evaporated milk and butter and combine with wooden spoon. The mix will be thick.
3.       Pour half the mixture in the pan and cook for 10 minutes in oven.
4.       Pull brownies out of the oven, pour caramel to top the layer of brownies, and ½ the pecans.
5.       Drop the rest of the reserved brownie mix on top of the cooked brownies in spoon full.
6.       Place back in the oven and cook for 20-30 minutes until the brownies are set.
7.       Top with more chocolate chips and the rest of the pecans…and as much of the caramel as you like.
